We are seeking to recruit a non-technical Service Engineer to join our dynamic and experienced team at A&F Sprinklers. This role is to provide assistance and aid our Service Engineers whilst carrying out essential Sprinkler works and act as a 2nd person on our sites.
A&F Sprinklers has been established since 1986 and has seen rapid growth over the past 5-10 years. We are continuing to grow and develop our business and with your help we will all succeed. A&F Sprinklers is now an Employee-Owned Business as part of an EOT.
What you'll be doing:
Pre-Use Inspections:
- Conduct comprehensive pre-use checks of fire pumps, including the inspection of oil, fuel, and coolant levels.
- Ensure that all necessary equipment and systems are operational and ready for use before each shift.
Monitoring Fire Pumps:
- Continuously monitor the operation of sprinkler fire pumps to ensure they are functioning properly during emergency situations or routine operations.
- Identify any abnormalities or potential issues and report them immediately to the maintenance team or supervisor.
- Monitor system pressure, flow, and temperature to ensure the pump operates within optimal parameters.
- Logs of system performance, noting any deviations or irregularities for future reference or maintenance.
Troubleshooting:
- Respond promptly to any alarms or system malfunctions, taking the necessary actions to rectify issues in a safe and efficient manner.
Safe Shutdown Procedures:
- Be fully trained in and capable of performing emergency shutdown procedures for the fire pump systems when required.
- Ensure that the fire pumps are properly secured after use or in the event of system failure.
Travel Requirements:
- Be available for extensive travel to various sites for system inspections, repairs, and emergency response, as required.
- Overnight stays may be required between 1-2 nights per week.

- The position will involve traveling to different locations to perform checks and maintenance on fire safety systems.
Necessary Skills:
- Driving: A valid driver’s license with at least 5 years of driving experience.
- Technical Skills: Basic understanding of Engines, Motors and Pumped systems is beneficial but not required.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to perform inspections and manual tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- Attention to Detail: Strong ability to detect and report issues promptly and accurately.
